ORATORY

In this event, students write, memorize, and deliver a speech. At the high school level, the speech should persuade. Junior-level speeches may persuade or inform (Junior students writing Oratories that Inform may wish to look at the Informative Speaking page).

Research, strong delivery skills, and clear organization are all hallmarks of the best Oratories. A personal connection to the topic is not required, but it often adds a unique and competitive advantage to the performance.
